The long felt need for Higher Secondary Education and that time Ridayanath Higher Secondary School, Barbil took birth in the year 1991 in the tribal belt founded by Mr. Brundaban Mahanta Ex- President and Mr. Bhimsen Mohanta Ex- Secretary of this institution.
The Higher Education deptt has controlled all college before 2019. but controlled by school and mass Education from 2019. So that the name of college has changed in higher secondary school all over Odisha. From 2019 R.N College also named R.N. Higher Secondary School , Barbil, Tangabila, Mayurbhanj.
The surrounding of the school in Similipal Biological park in the East. Kichakeswari temple of Khiching in the West, the river Bhandan and state Jharkhand in the North and holy ganga river Baitarani is flowing in the South.
